Peter Lee elevated to Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects

Hassell Principal and Board Director, Peter Lee has been recognised for his commitment to the architecture and design industry by being elevated to Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects. 

On making the announcement National President of the Australian Institute of Architects, Professor Helen Lochhead said the elevation was in honour of [Peter’s] notable significant contribution to the profession through practice engagement with the Institute, allied professional associations and various Boards”.

Throughout his career Peter has led numerous award-winning projects culminating in the 2011 Australian Institute of Architect Awards - Walter Burley Griffin Award for Urban Design and George Temple Poole Award for one40william. In 2015 Peter received the Curtin University Alumni Achievement Award in the Faculty of Humanities and the Architects Board of Western Australia Board Award.

Peter maintains a high profile within the architecture profession and the West Australian business community and board roles with Hassell, FORM, Foundation Housing, Open House Perth and Rottnest Island Authority.

Hassell Managing Director, Steve Coster said this acknowledgment of Peter’s achievements is well deserved.

Pete is also incredibly well connected throughout the design industry and sits on numerous boards and other groups to help push excellence within the industry.

Peter said that this type of acknowledgment is a great honour, but also unexpected.

It is an honour to receive this recognition, especially being included in a list of peers including Professor Helen Lochhead and Roger Poole,” Peter said.
